-Patrick Whitefield

・Care for Earth
・Sharing of the Resources

Workshop

Introduction to Permaculture

A two day workshop taught by Dion Workman and Takuya Sasa (presented in English and Japanese)

Date:24th and 25th of March
Place:Nerima-ku, Tokyo
Fee:Suggested donation ¥10000 (*see below)
Limited to 10 participants. To reserve a place please email tabi0419[at]gmail.com

The central aim of permaculture is to reduce our ecological impact. Or, more precisely, its to turn our negative ecological impact into a positive one.
- Patrick Whitefield
Permaculture is an ethically based design system that is about whole lifestyles. The ethics; Care for the Earth, Care for People, and Sharing of the Resources, form the foundation from which we design regenerative systems to realize health, sustainability and resiliency in our human communities and the wider communities of life of which we are a part.
In this workshop participants will be given the basic tools to begin applying permaculture design in their everyday lives.
Topics covered in this workshop will include:
・Principles of permaculture
・Traditional and contemporary Japanese practices that harmonize with the permaculture principles
・Understanding natural ecosystems as models for human habitats / Creation of human habitats with minimal disturbance of natural ecosystems
・Fundamental steps in the permaculture design process
・Urban application of permaculture design
・Practicing designing
・Hands-on small scale food production (growing micro greens and apartment compost in system)

*About the suggested donation:
We do not charge a fee for our courses because we want them to be accessible to everybody –  no matter what their financial situation. We do still have expenses though and put a great amount of time and energy to providing these courses. To allow us to keep providing workshops we ask that participants donate at a level they can comfortably afford. The amount we suggest for the donation reflects what we would likely charge were we to set a fee for the course. We gratefully accept donations larger than what we suggest and we also happily accept donations less than what we suggest. Most importantly, if you want to hear what we have to share then we want you to be on the course.
